Homework

This page aims to give you all of the relevant and up to date information about homework in Emperors class. Children will receive weekly, ability related tasks to complete in their own time. However, if children are finding something difficult or need to use some resources in class which may not be readily available at home, children are expected to attend the homework session on Thursday lunchtimes with Miss Baxter.

During a normal week you are expected to complete the following tasks:

  • Reading - Reading should be recorded in your reading diary, which should be brought into school every day. Children are expected to read at home at least three times per week. Children are allowed to record their own reading achievements at home but an adult must sign to verify their reading.
  • Spellings / English - Either an English based or a spelling task will be given out each week on a Wednesday to be returned on the following Monday. If you have any questions about this task, please see Miss Banks.
  • Times tables - You should practise your current times tables, or division facts with an adult. FAB Challenges will be tested on Fridays.
  • Maths - A maths based task will be given out each week on a Wednesday to be returned on the following Monday. If you have any questions about this task, please see Mrs Barnes.

In order for Miss Banks and Mrs Barnes to make accurate assessments of the children for their homework, the first piece of set homework will go home on Wednesday 9th September to be returned Monday 14th September. Each week the children's set homework will appear on this homework page. Until then children are expected to continue with their reading, times tables and House Captain speech.
