Homework

Reading

In Admirals, children have the opportunity to change their books 3 times a week. If your child/ren forget to change their books and they have read their books the websites below have extra reading books or they could read a book at home or write a review using our school library service. All of these activities contribute to their reading progress. Additionally, the books that children are sent home with are to help them practise with their reading and you may find that they are reading confidently. This is to boost their reading self-esteem as the books they read in school are slightly more difficult than the books that are sent home. Children will progress through the reading stages when assessed in school showing abilities in all areas of reading rather than just their decoding and blending of words.

Spelling

Children have a daily phonics session where they learn to read and write using sounds from Phase 3, 4, 5 and 6. Children will bring home spelling investigation homework every Friday based on our phonics lessons that week. Children need to bring their homework in the following Friday and house points will be awarded for children completing their homework and for having a good go.

Maths

To help children make progress in maths it is important for them to have an awareness of number. This could include counting activities at home, spotting numbers out and about or counting money in shops.

If you have any questions regarding the children's homework or would like any support please do not hesitate to ask.
