Homework

Reading

In Admirals children have the opportunity to change their books and are reminded to do so everyday during our guided reading sessions. If your child/ren forget to change their books and they have read their books the websites below have extra reading books or they could read a book at home or write a review using our school library service. All of these activities contribute to their reading progress. Additionally, the books that children are sent home with are to help them practise with their reading and you may find that they are reading confidently. This is to boost their reading self-esteem as the books they read in school are slightly more difficult than the books that are sent home. Children will progress through the reading stages when assessed in school showing abilities in all areas of reading rather than just their decoding and blending of words.

Spelling

Each Thursday in class, Admirals have a spelling, handwriting and punctuation and grammar session with Mrs Burnside. Although children do not have spelling homework this term they will continue to practise their spellings in phonics and grammar sessions during the week.

Maths

To help children make progress in maths it is important for them to have an awareness of number. This could include counting activities at home, spotting numbers out and about or counting money in shops. Each Monday children will also be given some maths homework to complete and bring back the following Monday. House points will be awarded for children completing their homework and for having a good go.

If you have any questions regarding the children's homework or would like any support please do not hesitate to ask.

These documents are the homework for the whole of the spring term until Easter. If your child/ren loose their copy an alternative can be found here. This homework will be handed out on Monday's to be returned the following Monday. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
