Murphy's Blog

Hi there
Well today I was with Admirals listening to red group, and first of all, I found out all about thunder and lightning in a book called Storms.  I don't mind thunder: Mum just turns the radio on for me and I listen happily to whatever's on.  Sometimes I sing along!  Ra tara roooooooooooooooooooooo!
Next was Alien Adventure: Claws, where Cat and Ant were at the beach and Nok aimed his special beam at a crab and watched it grow bigger and bigger!
Last today was The Dragon Dance, where Mrs May and the children made a long  dragon out of paper, then the children climbed inside.  That sounds like fun with paper!
Great reading today!

Hi there

I was with orange group in Admirals today - yey!

First of all, I listened to Space Boots where Will found a pair of huge silvery boots to wear.  He tried them on, and guess what?  They took him to ... you'll have to read it to find out!

Next today was Green Island where Chip and Aneena found a seagull which was covered in oil and Mrs Honey and the children gave it a bath.

Then I heard Raiders at Sea, and did you know that pirates clean their ships to make them go faster?  That's why I lick my paws - so I can go faster too!

Hi there

R-r-r-r-r-red group in Admirals today, and first up was Butterfly Pie, (hey, that rhymes!) where a sly python (so does that!) wanted to eat the butterfly!  What do you think happened?

Next was A Little Book of Reptiles, and I learned that some reptiles are tiny, some are huge and that turtles are reptiles too and they eat jellyfish and squid!  I like jelly, but I don't much like squid - too slippery!

Then I listened to Village in the Snow, where the children went tobogganing and some big, bad boys pushed some other children off their toboggans.  I wish I'd been there to help.  I'd have given them a ride on my back!

Last today was The Moon Monsters Get Lost where some funny green monsters got ... you'll have to read it to find out what happened!

Hi there

I was with green group in Admirals today - weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

First (and second!) today was Can You Do This? which was great fun, with great actions to try too, like standing on one leg like a flamingo, and making lots of tricky hand shapes by thinking very hard and separating out your fingers.  I wish I had fingers: my paws don't work in the same way as yours!

Then it was The Parachute, where Tiger made a parachute out of some string and a plastic bag, but he got stuck in a tree!  I think I might need more than one plastic bag to get me up in the air!

Hi there

Today I was with orange group in Admirals and first I listened to Chamber of Treasures where the Minatrolls attacked Krool 1 with their special powerful red rays.

Next I learned all about sharks.  Did you know, they don't have bones, they have something called cartilage which is very bendy, plus, they have five rows of teeth!  Wow!  Think how many dog treats I could eat if I had five rows of teeth!

Then I listened to Famous Castles, and I learned even more stuff!  King Edward the First built fourteen castles in Wales, but he ran out of money and couldn't finish the last one, Beaumaris Castle.

Last today was Raiders At Sea and more finding out!  Did you know, there are Spanish silver coins are called pieces of eight.  What a funny name!

Great reading today everyone!

Hi there

Hey hey hey! Admirals day!

First up was The Secret Room, where the children found a secret door when they were helping to hang the wallpaper at home.  Wow!  I wonder where it led.

Next today was Superdog Finds A Friend and gas was seeping into the space pod.  Oh no!  What do you think happened next?

Last today was Alien Adventures Space Walk where the micro-friends and Nok were on a school trip to the woods and they found a strange-looking object hidden in some leaves.  What do you think it was?

Great reading today.  Keep reading in half term!

Hi there

So here I was at Lockerley again this week - with Swallowtails this time, who I hadn't seen for ages!

First of all, I listened to Ginger Ninja, where Mr Folds the teacher has to persuade two cats called Tiddles and Ginger to dance in the show.  Dancing cats - imagine that!

Next was The Guard Dog, where some doggy friends were talking about what they wanted to be when they grew up.  That's easy!  I'd be a sausage tester!  What about you?

Trollop and Crunch came next, where Trollop heard a squirrel searching for nuts.  I love squirrels, but when I go to help them search in my garden, they run away, and they know I can't climb trees!

Last today was The Dragon's Teeth, where I learned that in Greek mythology, Peleus, Achilles's dad, made him immortal - all over, except on his ankle, so that was his body's vulnerable spot.  My vulnerable spot is under my chin - I'm very ticklish just there!

Hi there

Hey, hey!  It was Admirals day!

First up today was Alien Adventure, where Max had to use his power mitts to rescue Ant.  That sounds exciting - I'd like some mitts with special powers.  I'd magic all the yummy treats in the pet shop to come to my dinner bowl!

Zip and Zap at the Zoo was next, and Zap wanted to beep the rhino's horn with his hand, like a car horn!

Then I listened to Be A Cress Barber and I learned how to grow cress from seeds inside an empty eggshell.  Wow!  It looked just like green hair!

After that, it was time for Ruby Red and Sky Blue, where Ruby and Sky wanted to paint their room.  Can you guess which colour they chose?

Great reading today everyone!  See you next time!

Hi there

It was great to be back in school today after being in France!   I was so excited, I didn't realise that Admirals's classroom door had moved; I went the wrong way and nearly bumped my nose!

First up today with Yellow Group was The Seagull, where the seagull's beak got stuck in some plastic and Ant and Nok had to work out how to free it.

Next was All In A Day's Work, where the wrecking ball on the crane kept bumping into things.  It needed tying up to stop it, but how?

Then came Flower Power, and Basil the fox wanted some flowers for his friend Roxy, but one of the flowers ate him up!  Oh no!  How did he escape?

Last today was Catch a Dragon, where Prince Axel wanted a pet dragon but didn't know where to go to find them.  Would you know?

Hi there

So today I was stretched out by the Emperor's throne and I was very excited because I got read a comic with pictures and everything!  It was all about a naughty girl called Minnie the Minx and lots of Easter eggs, all different colours and sizes!

Then I listened to Varjak Paw, all about a cat who hardly ever leaves his owner's house but all that is about to change ... you'll have to read it to find out how!

I'm away for a couple of weeks now, then it's the summer holidays, so have a great summer and I'll see you when I'm back!

Don't stop, keep reading, and thank you for my lovely wild boar flavoured treats!  Nom nom!

Hi there

I was back with the Emperors today and first up was Murder Most Unladylike where Daisy and Hazel set up a detective agency at school. They soon had a murder to solve, but the only problem was - the body had disappeared!

Next was Snakehead, the seventh Alex Rider book, where Alex was working undercover for the Australian secret service.  Does that he mean he was in his bed all the time?  I wasn't too sure ...

Then it was Urban Outlaws Blackout, where a computer virus has just been launched and the outlaws must destroy it.

After that was Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban where poor Harry was getting blamed for everything that went wrong in the Dursley household.

Great stories today Emperors, and great reading too!

Hi there

So today, the Emperors were off out on a trip and I went in with Swallowtails instead.

First up was The Holiday, and Wilf and Wilma were admiring all the coral as they swam under the sea.

Next was Dead Losses, where I found out that Edward VI was only 9 when he was crowned king.  Imagine that!  Do you think he still went to school?

Last today was Dead Sick, and I found out more interesting facts, like how in the Middle Ages, doctors used leeches to help heal people.  You'll have to read it to find out exactly how!

Hi there
So today was a bit unusual.  There seemed to be more children than normal in Emperors class. Some of them had coloured fur but they   didn't speak. Hmmm... I had to have a little lie down to think about that and while I was there, I listened to some stories.
First up today was Jaguar Trials, where Ben put his head in a hole and then pulled himself  all the way through. I love holes, but I've never been in one that turned into a tunnel!
I heard more from Jaguar Trials too - the bit of background about the professor who'd been looking for El Dorado all his life.
Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth was next, where  Quintus bought scorpions at Triple G Ranch and there was a dog called Mrs O'Leary.
Last today was Wimpy Kid - Hard Luck, where Aaron said that Grandma's dog Sweetie looked like a beach ball with legs. How rude!

Hi there

So today, I was an emperor again and I took up my very special position by the throne.

First up was Beast Quest - Tagus, where Tom and Elenna had to take turns to watch out for the Beast.  I'd be very good at that - I always sleep with one ear open!

Next was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, where Harry was exploring Diagon alley and went to the vault at Gringott's to get some money out.  I've got a vault too, but it's got bones in, not money!

Then came Tom Gates Absolutely Fantastic and Tom won a T shirt design competition for his favourite band, Dude3.

Car-Jacked was next, which was really exciting because Jack was hiding in the back of a car which he thought was being driven by his dad, until he saw the driver's hands on the steering wheel which were covered in ... you'll have to read it to find out!

Have a great half term and keep reading

Hi there

So today I was back with the Emperors, and the first story I listened to was Z Raptor, which was all about dinosaurs which have a human ability to learn.

Next was Tom Gates Genius Ideas (Mostly) where Tom was imagining his perfect day at school, which would be where  Dude3, his favourite band, would play at his school. What would your most perfect day be like? Mine would be full of muddy walks with my doggy friends, and tasty bones, followed by a dip in a cool river and lots of biscuits at home.  Lovely!

Candy Floss was next, where Rhiannon and her friends were making up ballads in their English class.   I like making up ballads too! Arooooooooooo! Aroooooooo!  That was me singing a ballad!

Then there was another Tom Gates book - Extra Special Treats (Not!) and Granddad Bob and Granny Mavis were celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary, and Tom wrote a really great poem for them.  I like poems too.  Here's one of mine:

I went into the Emperors' room

And lay down by the chair

I heard great stories, like Tom Gates

My favourite kind to share.

All too soon it was time to go

And I stretched up long and high

I'll see you all again next week

Til then I'll wag goodbye!

Hi there

Today was a bit special because I wasn't with the Emperors, I went off in a completely new direction to meet Skippers!  They had such a great classroom, with tennis balls and everything!

I had such fun answering their questions (well, Mum helped me out a bit) but then, some of them wanted to come and read to me, so I settled down happily to listen.

First I listened to The Go Kart, where Biff and Chip were arguing about whose turn it was and Mum had to sort them out, then I heard Helter Skelter, where Nok got stuck at the top.

Next was Cat and Dog, my favourite today, where the cat ate some cod.  It's not only cats who like fish - I love fish too, especially tuna!

Great reading today, and thank you for inviting me, Skippers.

I was with the Emperors again today and first of all, I listened to Amazing Battles and found out all about Superman.  Did you know his real name is Clark Kent?  I've only got one name, but Mum calls me lots of different ones: - Murphy Moo, SmurphyMurphy, Mr Pup, Smurphles. Do you get called by other names too?

Next was Street Child, where Jim's mother was so tired and hungry, she fell asleep on the pavement.  Luckily someone was there to help her up.

After that, I listened to Lily Alone.  Her family had fun splashing about in a muddy pond - that's like me!  I like doing that too! But then Lily, who was in charge, had to think what to do next as they were hungry too.

Tom Gates's Supergood Skills (Almost) was next, and Tom's dad asked Tom to sit in the back of the car because Delia's friend Avril was coming on holiday with them.  Tom didn't sound very impressed!

Last today was Maze Runner, where Thomas went through the loft to a maze.  Wow!  I hope he found his way out!

I was so pleased to be back at school today after Easter.  Mum sat on the Emperor's chair while I lay at her feet, listening hard.

First up was Horrid Henry's Funny Fact File, and I pricked up my ears at all the funny voices, and at the bit about having a nappy noodle poopy pants brother.  I've got six brothers, so I know what it's like!

Next was Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder, and I found out about Perry, the seven-legged Peruvian spider.  Can't wait to find out all about the special powder!

After that, I listened to Awful Auntie, where Aunt Alberta made tea for everyone, but Stella became suspicious when she tasted it ...

Last today was The Shadow in the North, which was set in Victorian London, and was all about an entrepreneur called Sally Lockhart who gets involved with the strange disappearance of a steamship.

Hey hey hey!  My Lockerley day!

First of all, I listened to The Playroom, where great grandfather had been trapped for years, and everyone had a plan to escape out onto the roof!  I hope they don't look down and feel dizzy!

Next was Rocket Ronnie and The Bleekoids, where the Bleekoids were planning to build a highway and concrete over planet Earth.  I'm glad it was only a story, otherwise where would I bury my bones?

Last today was Jedi Knights and I learned all about these knights who carry their light sabers wherever they go - they wouldn't need a torch at all, would they?

Have a great Easter holiday, and don't eat too much chocolate!

Hmmm ... I noticed that things were a bit different outside Swallowtails today.  Furniture things.  The round table had disappeared, and there was a square table there instead.  Funny.  I had to have a little lie down to think about that, and while I was there, I listened to The Midnight Gang. I found out the names of some of the hospital patients and why they were in hospital, and about a monster man who pushed the wonky-wheeled trolleys around the building.

Next was another David Walliams book - Demon Dentist.  I heard about Miss Root, a dentist who had rock-solid hair in the shape of a Mr Whippy ice cream!

The Reptile Room from A Series of Unfortunate Events was next, where the baby, Sunny Baudelaire, bit the Incredibly Deadly Viper - on the nose!

Beast Quest - The Shade of Death was last today, where I found about about Krabb, the monster crab who frightened Tom so much, his teeth rattled in his head!

Hi there

Swallowtails today, and I sat in my favourite place - near the lunchboxes!

First of all, I listened to Adventure Time where BMO was baking a cake for Finn and Jake, then they had a running race to see who could go the fastest in a straight line.  I'm not so good at running in a straight line.  With four paws and my nose, I'm better at zigzagging!

Next was Horrible Histories The First World War and I learned all sorts of interesting facts (and myths) like the one about the people who thought that a German soldier had flown straight through the window at Buckingham Palace!

Spiderman was third today, and I found out that his real name was Peter Porter and Spiderman's enemy was Green Goblin, whose real name was Norman Osborn.  My real name's Murphy, but I get called all sorts of things: Murphy Moo, Smurphy Murphy, Mr Big Dog ...  What do you get called?

I was with Swallowtails again today, and first of all, I listened to Beast Quest, Shade of Death, where Tom and Aduro followed the wizard into a gloomy chamber and discovered a steaming cauldron of .... ? You'll have to read it to find out!
Next was The Worst Thing about My Sister where Martina was wearing a frilly blue dress, and her sister Melissa was in fits of giggles about it when she saw her. That's a bit unkind!
Then it was Jacky Daydream and she was telling the story of how she was born with a poorly mouth and couldn't feed properly for the first few days.
Last today was Huge Red Riding Hood, which was a book of all different stories. The one I heard was all about the ugly duckling, whose mother told him he was beautiful no matter what he looked like.  That's so true: It's what's inside that's important.

Hi there

Mmmmmm ... Swallowtails' lunchboxes always make me feel hungry, even though I've only just had breakfast!

First today was Save The World, which was all  about what we can do to be kind to our planet.

Then, two children came up to Mum with a tray of crackly silver bags. "Ooooh, crisps!" I thought.  Mum bought one and popped it open, but it wasn't crisps.  Was it a bouncy red ball for me to play with?  Then somebody wedged one onto their nose.  I'd never seen anyone do that before!  I had to have a little lay down to think about that, and while I was there, I listened to Reptiles, and I learned that there is a fish-eating crocodile called a gharial, which has a face that looks just like a pair of scissors!

Last today was Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, but there was only time for a tiny paragraph - shame!  I'm looking forward to hearing more next time!

It was great to be back at school today after the half term break!

I was with Swallowtails today, and first I listened to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, where Harry met Draco Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle for the first time.

Then, something very special happened.  While I was listening with my right ear to Monster Mayhem and hearing all about the bubbling burps and breakages that Gormy the monster-in-training practised, I also listened with my left ear to a different story that an Emperor was reading to me!

Next was Dinosaur Cove where Jamie met a raptor in a cave who was just about to tear him to pieces.  I hope he escaped in time!

Last today was Pet Poems and I really loved the rhythm of the rap one about the chirping, barking pet shop!  That sounds like my sort of shopping!

Swallowtails today, but only after I'd made my regular niffy nose inspection of lunchboxes on the way there!

First of all, I listened to Tom Gates Everything's Amazing, where there was a dog show and someone said that Marcus Meldrew looked like his dog, who looked like a grumpy rat!  I'd like to go in for a dog show - I'd go in for the category of the dog the judges would most like to take home, but Mum wouldn't be very pleased if I won!

Next was Dinosaur Cove, Catching the Speedy Thief, where Wanna and the velociraptor had a fight.

Then I listened to Daisy and The Trouble With Zoos, where Gabby and Dylan were going to the zoo with Daisy for a special birthday treat. Wow, that sounds like fun!  I wonder if I can do that when it's my birthday?

Last today, it was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Harry met Dedalus Diggle and Professor Quirrell who taught defence against the dark arts and has a stammer, and wears a t-t-t-turban every day.

Have  a great half term holiday, and keep reading!

I was with Swallowtails today, but not before I'd had a good niff niff of all the amazing smells in the lunchboxes along the way!

First today I listened to Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Hard Luck, where Greg had to borrow some shoes from Mr Nerd because he'd trodden in some dog poo.  Yuk!  Even I understand how smelly and horrible that is!

Next was Adventure Time, a comic, where Jake the dog and Finn the human have a computer friend called ALN.  Hmmmmm, wonder what that stands for?  Do you know?

After that, I heard another Wimpy Kid book - hooray, hooray!  That's two today!  It was The Third Wheel and I listened to the bit where Uncle Gary had moved in and was sleeping on the couch, and Rodrick had no space to relax in any more.

Last today was Not Bad For A Bad Lad, and I heard the bit where PC Nightingale was chasing the boy who's telling the story through a bomb site during the war.

So today, guess what?  I met Elvis on the way into school!  OK, so he wasn't wearing his leather jacket and his hair looked a bit different, but I just knew it was him!

Then I went into Swallowtails, and the first story I listened to was Horrid Henry Meets the Queen, and I heard the bit where the children were stomping in a vat of daub.  Isn't that like mud?  Hahahahahahaha!  I love mud!  Mum always says I should have been a hippo!

Next I heard My Hamster's Got Talent where there was a pet competition on a TV show.  I'd like to enter a talent contest - for singing!  Ar-ooooooo!  Ar- ar-ooooooo!

Daisy and The Trouble with Sports Day was next, and Daisy was keeping note of her personal best times for the egg and spoon race.

Then I listened to Stealth Battles, where the Jedi use the power of force to disguise their movements.

Lastly today was Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, where Harry was eating a pumpkin pasty and chocolate frogs.  Sounds yummy doesn't it?!

It was so great to be back at school today after the Christmas holiday!

Off I trotted to Swallowtails classroom, having a little sniff of the lunchboxes on the way.

The first story I heard was The Pony Whisperer where the horses Drummer and Dolly Daydream had a rat in their stable!  Eurgh!

Next up was Dirty Bertie - Pong! where  and Bertie needed to give his dog Whiffer a bath, but he had to lure him there with a biscuit.  I never need that sort of encouragement (well, OK, I do really!).  Actually, I don't know any doggy friends who enjoy a bath, not in clean water anyway!  Plus, in the book, Royston could balance a biscuit on his dog's nose!  Wow!  I'd like to learn that trick!

Then I listened to Beast Quest - Tusk, where Tom needed to get the jewel from the beast's tusk.

Finally today was Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Third Wheel, where there's a Valentine dance at Greg's school.  I'm not much good at dancing, are you?  I think I'm too wobbly!

Today I sat right by Santa's grotto, and there was a lovely chewy smell of shoes ... mmmmmm, I just love that smell, but I was a good boy and didn't even lick anything!

First of all, I listened to Bones the Sea Dog, where Bones wanted to be a pirate.  He was very good at digging holes for the treasure, and sniffing for ships.  I'd be good at that too.  I'm a very good sniffer dog!

Next was The Gruffalo, where the quick-thinking mouse came face to face with an owl, a snake and then the hungry gruffalo . . . but you'll have to read it to find out what happens!

Last today I heard some Water Poems, and I especially liked the one about Dad and his son who were washing Dad's car but the hose kept wriggling about and drenched next door's cat!  Whoops!

Hello Everyone

Hello Everyone 1

Hi there

So when I went to the V-E-T yesterday, I was all waggytail with her because I know she's got a big jar of treats which only good dogs get.

She listened to my heartbeat with special things in her ears then felt all round my bald, stitchy places and said I was doing really well not licky licking the stitches, but she put a little bandage on my paw where I had the sleepy injection, and it's got dinosaurs on!

But ... I've still got to be on short walks on my lead until my stitches come out next week.  Oh no!  Such a long time!  I want to run about and shake my lead off,al but I really mustn't because the stitches might come undone and then I wouldn't get any treats at all, so I must be good and steady like Mum says.  And I've got to carry on wearing one of Dad's T shirts at night in case I get tempted to do any licky licking.

Anyway, the treats she gave me were delicious and we went back to Reception where one of the nice ladies asked me if I'd like a treat. Oooooh! I thought, I haven't had a treat for ages!  Yes please!  So she dug her hand into the big treat jar and I thought she might like my paw.  She was very pleased and I got a treat, so I gave her the other paw and got another treat.  I love it at the V-E-Ts!

So my fur is growing back already and I'm looking forward to doing all my usual stuff again.  ASAP!
