Treetops nurture group meets 3 afternoons a week in the Monarch Room. The Monarch Room was set up for nurture following its completion in April 2015 and offers a welcoming and homely environment.
There is considerable research evidence that children’s learning is most effective when they have a sense of emotional well being, good self esteem and a feeling of belonging to their school community. The Treetops provides children with this opportunity, helping to develop their maturity and resilience.
The philosophy of the Nurture is based on the principles established by the work of Marjorie Boxall and others, and exemplified by ‘The Nurture Group Network’. If you would like to find out more about the theory and practice of Nurture Groups please visit www.nurturegroups.org.
Treetops currently has 6 pupils and is led by Mrs Burnside (SENCO) and Miss Baxter. Its purpose is to offer children opportunities to re-visit early learning skills and promote and support their social and emotional development, independence, confidence and self-esteem. This year we have successfully applied for funding from the Hampshire Educational Psychology Service, which aims to promote the use of Nurture Groups in Hampshire.
