Summer 1

This half term we will be exploring the enquiry question - Do all artists paint?

We will be exploring this topic linking together Expressive Arts and Design with Understanding the World and Music. We will be thinking about the Climate Crisis, the impact on our planet and what we can do to help. Our focus will be plants and how the world around us is impacted by climate change. In Art, we will be learning how to do shadow drawings and we will be going to Hillier Gardens to apply these skills in real life. We will be linking together our work in Science where will be studying plants and how they grow and using this to help us create an art project based around the theme ‘Climate unity’.

Mystery creature found in the woods!

When Nanny came in to see us this week she told us about something she had seen when she was out walking in the woods. She didn't see the whole thing but she described to us what she had seen - black nose, pointy ears, brown eyes and a fluffy tail. We then thought of some questions that we wanted to ask Nanny. For example, 'Where did you see it?' and 'What noise did it make?' Nanny said all she could hear was a rustling noise in the leaves. Then we thought of some ways that we could help Nanny such as making wanted posters and writing letters to Nanny to make sure she was ok.
