Autumn 1

Science

Swallowtails class have been investigating in science which type of cliff would be best for a caveman’s cave. We were given chalk, granite and sandstone for our experiments. We then tested the porosity, the hardness and reaction to acid. Next week we will be analysing our results to decide which rock we would choose for the cave.

Outdoor Learning and History

Swallowtails Class enjoyed combining Outdoor Learning and History by roasting apples on a firepit, and dipping them in honey. We learned that these were food items that would have been available in the Stone Age, and they were delicious!

Trip to Hillier Gardens

Swallowtails Class had an amazing visit to Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, learning about the Stone Age. We took part in an archaeological dig, made our own bracelets, tried spear throwing and fire lighting and handled real artefacts!
