RE - Pentacost Party!
During the last half term Swallowtails learnt about Pentacost. Christians celebrated Pentacost this year on the 8th June. On this day Christians celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit. Swallowtails class organised their own Pentacost celebration. We made our own party hats, ate hot, fiery crisps and danced to fire themed songs.
Camp Swallowtails!
Camp Swallowtails was a great success (if a little soggy!) We played games, roasted marshmallows, told stories round the camp fire and had the best time! Thank you to the teachers that came to help us make it happen. And now we sleep....
Science - Digestion
Our science topic this half term has been digestion. The class enjoyed recreating the digestive system using food and other items. From crushing a cracker in a zip-lock bag to represent the teeth to demonstrating the large intestine by pouring the stomach contents into a pair of tights.

Art - Printing
We found out that Akan people print Adinkra Symbols on the Kente Cloth they wear and that all Adrinkra symbols have a positive meaning. We created our own Adinkra symbols and drew them with a sharp pencil onto polystyrene. Then we used equipment to print them.
Maths
Year 3 have been learning about measure in maths. They have used rulers to measure length, measuring jugs and cylinders to measure capacity and scales to measure weight/mass.
Music - Samba Drums
Swallowtails are learning to play the samba instruments this term. This week they learnt the names of the different instruments and practised keeping in time.

Art - Printing
Swallowtails went outside to find leaves of different shapes and sizes. They then learnt how to print this pattern using ink to create interesting patterns.
