Spring 1
We really enjoyed doing a number hunt for our maths this week. We were thinking about the number three and had to find different representations in the classroom before getting them ticked off on our wristband.
We had a brilliant afternoon celebrating Lunar New Year. We started off by learning about where China was and the different traditions they have for the new year. We then watched some dragon dancing and had a go at doing it ourselves. We also made lanterns, snakes and dragons. Then concluded by having our own dragon parade to music!
In maths this week we have been learning about the composition of the number 5. To help us we have been using the song '5 little speckled frogs'. On Friday we became the speckled frogs and had a go at jumping in the pool. This allowed us to see how many were on the bench and how many were in the pool to understand the different ways to make 5.
We went on a winter walk this week. We were using our senses to explore the garden and thinkabout the changes we could see from when we did our autumn walk. We discussed evergreen and deciduous trees, then got to collect different pieces we thought were interesting to show to our friends.
We have been working on our balance in P.E. We were thinking about using soft knees to jump off the bench and doing a big step to get off the vault. We then sat in a circle and used the ball to pass it to our friends when shouting their name.
To start our new topic of 'Help is at Hand' we thought about all the different people in our community. We discussed doctors, shop keepers, vets, bus drivers, pilots, police officers and more. We then had the pleasure of meeting Cinnamon and Pumpkin the guinea pigs!
Skippers class have been using their speedy eyes this week to work out how many dots there are when a die is rolled. We then took our learning outside and some of us became human dice to help our friends move places up the game boards.
