Spring 2

We enjoyed learning Spring Chicken for the Easter Service!

Happy Easter from Skippers and Admirals!

We have really enjoyed exploring our Nursery Rhyme History Box! We learned to sing four key Nursery Rhymes - 'Polly Put The Kettle On', 'Jack and Jill', 'Wee Willie Winkie' and 'Betty Botter'. We learned what the different items are, and which nursery rhymes they link to. We also thought about the history of these songs and how life is different now.

We visited St John's Church today to learn about Palm Sunday. We did a treasure hunt to find different symbols around the church, and thought about how the Church welcomes different people. We were given our own palm crosses to help us continue our learning - thank you to Vicar James and the volunteers.

We had an amazing trip to Bentley Wood with Skippers Class. We enjoyed pond dipping and discovered lots of interesting creatures. We also took part in a sound walk where we listened carefully to the different birds in the woods. We loved spending so much time outside - thank you to Mrs Walker and the volunteers at Bentley Wood for helping us.

We had lots of fun learning about science with Professor Kaos in Science Week with Skippers Class. We had a go at using magnets and moving them across the table. We drew pictures on filter paper using black or brown, and learned about how we can see different colours when it is wet as the ink ran. Then we got our own glasses which mean we can see rainbows!

As part of our learning for Science week, we worked with Skippers Class to create our own wormery. We used soil and sand to build layers, then topped up with leaves and water. We added three worms, then covered the wormery in black paper. We will have to wait two weeks to see some results!

Our R.E. topic for this half term is Welcoming. We learned how different cultures welcome people, from the Tibetan greeting of sticking your tongue out to bowing in Japan.

We have been enjoying developing our learning in Discovery Time in our Continuous Provision. It has been particularly exciting to welcome our caterpillars to the class! We have 10 in total and we have been watching them move around and start to grow.
