Autumn 1
We had an exciting day visiting the village Post Office and Coffee Shop!
Inspired by 'The Jolly Postman', we have all been writing letters in our English lessons, inviting members of the village Coffee Morning to come to our school and see our amazing work. After we put them in envelopes with address labels, we took our letters to the Post Office to be delivered. We helped to stamp them, and asked some interesting questions. We then went to meet some members of the Coffee Shop and told them to expect something exciting in the post!
We experimented with different colours in Art. We learned about primary colours, and how we can mix them to make secondary colours. We then had a go at making our own colours!
We enjoyed starting our Science unit about describing different materials. We investigated materials that we could find in the classroom and thought about how we could describe their features.
Skippers and Admirals went outside to look for signs of Autumn in our outdoor area. We found lots of different colours and made a collage with all of the beautiful nature that we found.
We enjoyed working with Skippers to build dens in the autumnal sunshine! We thought about how to share the equipment and work as a team. We also developed our resilience as we had to think carefully about how to make our dens successful!
We had an exciting delivery today! Mark, our jolly village post man delivered a parcel to our classroom, and inside was a book! We read the Jolly Postman and came up with some ideas of what to do next.
We enjoyed our first PE lesson this week and made the most of the autumnal sunshine! We practised our gymnastic shapes and balances.
We had a visit from the fire service. We learned about what is safe to play with and what isn't. Some of us tried dressing as fire fighters! We learned about the different emergency services, and what the fire service does to keep us safe.
Our Science longitudinal study this year will be about changes in the school grounds. We started our investigation by becoming detectives and searching for minibeasts, birds, and different shaped leaves.
We started our R.E. learning about the Christian creation story. We thought about the order that things were created in, and shared our understanding of the term 'creation'.
Admirals Class have had a fun start to the school year helping to redesign the outdoor area and exploring the newly set up classroom! We also thought about how we can show our school values in our learning.
