  • Basic Life Support

Mon 25 Jun 2018 Mrs Morgan
This morning, Scarlet, a former pupil, came in to visit Emperors to deliver a session with her father, who is a doctor, on basic life support. The children learnt about the 6 steps needed in order to help someone who is unresponsive. The children were very engaged in the session and gave some really good answers when questioned. Hopefully this is a skill the children will never have to use but it is an important skill for them to know. There a photographs on our class page.
  • Year 6 Cathedral Service

Fri 22 Jun 2018 Mrs Morgan
Today the children in Year 6 went to Winchester Cathedral for their annual leaver's service. The children behaved exceptionally well and represented our school with pride. During the morning we took part in a photo trail around the cathedral and a short workshop looking at the bosses on the ceiling and creating our own based on the 21st Century. In the afternoon we had our service where we sang hymns and listened to teachings from the Bible. Thank you to all of the parents who supported us with transport and to everyone who came to watch. The photographs are on our class page.
  • Skippers and Admirals visit Bournemouth Beach and Oceanarium

Fri 22 Jun 2018 Mrs Bowman

Skippers and Admirals had a fantastic day in Bournemouth. We arrived off the coach to glorious sunshine and sat on the beach to enjoy an ice lolly before going into the oceanarium for our tour. Once inside the oceanarium we saw so many fantastic sea creatures including sharks, sea turtles, penguins and eels. We were lucky enough to handle artefacts such as a turtle shell, the skin of a shark and mermaids purses. After our fantastic tour was over it was time to head back outside in the sunshine to enjoy our lunch on the beach before heading back to school. A big thank you to our helpers today Miss Jones, Miss Smith, Mrs Kay, Mrs Tatnall, Mrs Sopowski-Scott, Mrs McClue and Miss Redgrave who were all a fantastic help.

  • Area Athletics

Mon 18 Jun 2018 Mrs Morgan
16 children represented Lockerley Primary School this morning at the area athletics from Years 3 - 6. It was a full on morning with track and field events including, 300m race, vortex throw, standing long jump and speed bounce. All of the children competed well, showing several strengths early on. Overall we came first. This adds a fifth trophy and more gold medals to our other sporting successes this year. An absolutely amazing achievement. Thank you to all of the parents that came along to support us and transported children there. It is safe to say I have a sore throat from all of the cheering. Check out our photographs below.
  • Paultons Park

Mon 18 Jun 2018 Mrs Morgan
Emperors had a fantastic time at Paultons Park on Friday as park of their 'Forces' topic in science. The title of the workshop was 'Feel the Force' and the children literally got to feel the force. During the morning the children went around the park with our guide who showed us various rides and talked about all of the forces that could be felt on that ride. We had some very brave children too who tried out rollercoasters for the very first time. A fantastic day out. Thank you to everyone that came along to help. You can find some fantastic photographs and action shots of Mr Dodson on rides on our class page.
  • Lockerley Football House World Cup 2018

    Thu 14 Jun 2018

On Wednesday afternoon the 4 house football teams took to the field to compete in the Lockerley Primary School World Cup 2018.

Toby and Alfie had organised the competition-5 a side with rolling subs, matches 7 minutes each way with 1 minute turn around.

On pitch 1 Rolle took on Dalgety refereed by Mrs Appleby, while on pitch 2 Aylward played against Nightingale with Mr Magrane refereeing. As the whistle blew to start the competition Dalgety were quick to score against Rolle and ended up with a winning score of 7-3. On pitch 2 it was fairly evenly matched with the result being a 3 all draw.

As the second match began on pitch 1 Aylwayd again took an early lead against Rolle who fought hard with Primrose and Tilly working well together to keep the ball away from their goal. Meanwhile on pitch 2 Dalgety took on Nightingale beating them by only goal.

Things were close in the final matches and both referees noticed how well the houses were working together as a team - supporting each other and coaching each other with positive comments throughout the matches.

Mr Dodson and Mr Magrane couldn't resist helping out Rolle in their final match against Nightingale as injury took out one of their players. Unfortunately it was too little too late for Rolle and the final result was 11-6 to Nightingale.

A very tense final match was playing out on pitch 1 with Aylward against Dalgety both looking to take a win to secure overall victory in the competition. As Aaron went off injured Dalgety took the lead but after some ice and rest he came back on to help his team level the score resulting in a 4 all draw.

After all the points were added up Dalgety were declared the worthy winners of the 2018 Lockerley World Cup 2018. Well done to all the players for a fantastic competition, for many it was their first ever football macth!

  • Emperors' Train Trip

Wed 13 Jun 2018 Mrs Morgan
On Tuesday, Emperors had a wonderful train journey to and from Southampton Airport. They departed the Mottisfont and Dunbridge train station in the morning, travelled through Romsey and Southampton Central and got off at Southampton Airport Parkway. While on the train we had a volunteer who gave us information about the trains and we asked any questions. When we got to the airport we had a look around the terminal. Unfortunately, no one had their passports so we couldn't jet off to Paris. We had a great morning and learnt so much about the trains. Look on our class page for our photographs.

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games GOLD Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
