  • Sport Relief 2018

    Fri 23 Mar 2018

Wow! What a fabulously active day the children have had taking part in a variety of activities from a wheelathon to a dancethon with a bit of a bake off with a twist thrown in for good measure.

All the children worked super hard both before the day raising sponsorship money and learning all about being healthy, and on the day tackling the 'athons' with awesome vigour and enthusiasm.

Of course none of this would be possible without the support of our lovely school community. Whether you helped nag for sponsorship, invented a new fruit or vegetable cake, transported a wheeled vehicle to school or simply came and supported the children on the day, it didn't go unnoticed or unappreciated. It wouldn't have been possible without you.

A special thanks must go out to the SSOC who organised the day from start to finish under the watchful eye of Bronze Ambassadors Grace and Freddie. From the paperwork to the dance routine the team were responsible for it all.

Another special thanks also to Mr Dodson and Nanny for being brave enough to taste the cakes without knowing the ingredients beforehand!

Thanks everyone for a superb day - a fundraising total will be announced next week.

  • Inter-House Spelling

Mon 19 Mar 2018 Miss Banks

On Friday, the whole school took part in the Inter-House Spelling challenge. All the children were in their houses to complete a series of spelling activities. Each year group took it in turns coming to the front to complete a variety of challenges including, 'mixed up spelling', 'backwards spelling' and 'create a word'. After all of the year group challenges were complete Aylward were in first place.

While the children were completing their year group challenges, the other children had lots of extra point activities to complete, such as, crosswords, word searches and Boggles. Due to the hard work of Dalgety house and the encouragement from the House Captains, Dalgety earned themselves an extra 88 points bringing them in to first place.

An amazing effort by everyone. See below for out photographs.

    Final standings after all activities:

    1st - Dalgety

    2nd - Rolle

    3rd - Nightingale

    4th - Aylward

  • Football at Totton AFC v Calmore

Sat 17 Mar 2018 Jamie Dodson

It was a freezing afternoon ready made for football on Saturday as seven of the boys from Key Stage 2 played 3 matches against Calmore Junior School on the artificial pitch at AFC Totton.

The team played brilliantly, winning 3 matches and drawing 1.

After the matches, the team walked out alongside the players before watching AFC Totton's charge for promotion gather pace with a 3-1 home win.

Check out the photos below of a brilliant experience for all the boys who were lucky enough to take part.

  • Emperors' Trip to Testwood Lakes

Thu 08 Mar 2018 Miss Banks

Emperors were blessed with the weather for their trip today to Testwood Lakes to support their topic on rivers. Having rained all night, the conditions were exceptionally muddy which made it even more exciting! By lunchtime, we were all covered in mud. We spent the morning looking at the River Test and spotting the different features of a river as well as looking at the environment around us. During the afternoon, we began with pond dipping. Unfortunately, no one found a newt or a water spider but we found several nymphs and some blood worms. From investigating the pond area we were able to establish that the area has very little pollution due to the wildlife we found within it. After pond dipping, we went on an adventure to carry out some orienteering. The children loved this as it was their opportunity to explore the area and practise their map reading skills. We ended the day with a lie down underneath the forest canopy using binoculars to spot some wildlife.

The children had a fantastic day and behaved exceptionally well. On our class page are some photographs and two videos of each year group playing Pooh Sticks.

  • Netball Champions

    Tue 06 Mar 2018 J Dodson

Well done to all the children who took part in the netball event on Wednesday this week. They performed brilliantly as a team, winning four consecutive matches and losing just one.

Lockerley v Wallop – 4-1 (Toby and Primrose with 2 points each)

Lockerley v Wherwell – 2-0 (Maddie with both points)

Lockerley v West Tytherley – 5-0 (Sophie with 2 and Aston with 3)

Lockerley v Broughton – 5-3 (Primrose with 2 and Aaron with 3). Broughton beat us 14-1 a month ago. Revenge is indeed a dish best served cold.

Lockerley v Stockbridge 0-1 (our only defeat)

Thank you to the parents who came along to cheer the children on and I loved being there to see the children raise the trophy at the end. Thank you to Mrs Priest, Miss Banks and some other bloke for preparing the children so well.

Thank you to everyone who came along to our book fair. It was great to see all of the children excited about the new books on offer as well as discovering new authors. Lots of children were able to spend their £1 book voucher too. Take a look at our photographs below.
