  • The Big Garden Birdwatch - Trailblazing in Skippers

Sat 24 Jan 2015 Miss Jackson
On the coldest day of the year so far children in Skippers took part in the Big Garden Birdwatch.  They were kindly helped by Mrs Jenkins and identified several different species  in the school grounds including, robins, blackbirds, magpies, chaffinchs and blue-tits.  The children really enjoyed this activity and clearly demonstrated two of our new school values - responsibility and compassion (caring for the environment).   Please visit Skippers class page to view our photographs.
  • Read for my School

Tue 20 Jan 2015 Miss Banks

READ FOR MY SCHOOL CLASSROOM CODE - 166847

Once again the Read for my School competition was launched today. The aim is to read as many books as you can while recording your efforts using your online log in. The competition is open to all children in Swallowtails and Emperors and everyone was sent home with a log in username and password today. A copy is kept in school so keep this one somewhere safe at home.

Last year as a Key Stage we read over 250 books and we were lucky enough to win 100 new books for our library. Our aim this year is to read over 300 books. There is a bar graph in the library to help us keep track of how many books we have read so far.

Just like at the end of the competition last year there are prizes to be won by all of those involved and I would strongly recommend taking part. The children last year who put a lot of effort in really enjoyed the experience especially reading all of the new books online. The best news is that this year you can read the books on most tablets.

If you have any questions regarding the competition or if you loose your log in please do not hesitate to ask. Happy reading.

  • Admirals Dance Day

Tue 20 Jan 2015 Miss Banks
This afternoon Admirals put 100% into their dance performance yet again! They persevered throughout the past two days to finish and perfect their dance routine. We created our dance around the theme of London creating different London landmarks with our bodies. The children worked incredibly hard and many parents congratulated them on their hard work and effort. A fantastic effort Admirals. There are lots of pictures on our class page of our dance.
  • Trailblazers

Sat 17 Jan 2015 Miss Hynes

From this term we are starting are new scheme called Trailblazers, in which the children will get the opportunity to do more learning outside the classroom across the curriculum in exciting ways.

Each class will log the amount of time they have spent doing activities outside and then we will total the number of hours every month and add that to our Trailblazers display in the hall. Once the children have logged a certain amount of hours they will receive Trailblazing certificates.

The children were very excited about this new scheme when we launched it in assembly this week and can't wait to get outside Trailblazing!!
