  • Inter-House Maths Challenge

    Thu 17 Dec 2015 K. Barnes
The last week of the Autumn term saw the whole school pitting their mathematical wits against each other in an attempt to help their house triumph in the annual Inter-House Maths Challenge.  With a focus on shape, space and measures, each round demanded that the children used their knowledge, attention to detail and reasoning skills in order to solve the set problem.  All participants showed great perseverance in the face of some really tricky questions and we were pleased to see such good teamwork in action.
  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Staff Promise

Thu 17 Dec 2015 Mr Dodson

    Anticipation. Excitement. Love.

All things that everyone was feeling - as well as 'The Force' of course - at around 12.05pm today when that famous banner appeared on the screen...

'A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...'

Oliver and Liam both gave the film 10/10 and Ben a mere 9/10 (we don't know what he was thinking, but perhaps he had given in slightly to the Dark side).

We were almost all in tears at the end as none of us saw it coming.

Go and see it everyone. It's 'Star Wars' after all.

It's the most wonderful time of the year when all the children can sit together and enjoy being served by all the staff in school. Wearing their Christmas hats and being serenaded by Mr Dodson is something that the children will never forget. Enjoy our festive pictures...
  • Ice Skating Staff Promise

Wed 16 Dec 2015 Mrs Appleby

This morning Mrs Appleby and Mrs Black took the two staff promise winners, Fay and Lucy, and their two friends, Ellie and Danielle to Winchester for some ice skating fun. Luckily the weather had dried out from yesterday but the rink was a little wet!! We booked the early slot which was brilliant because we practically had the rink to ourselves.

Having kitted us all out with boots we took to the ice - penguin in tow! Mrs Black did a fabulous job supporting from the sidelines while Lucy and Danielle showed off their skating skills - with some impressive backwards skating from Lucy. Fay and Ellie took it a bit more slowly using the penguin and Mrs Appleby for a little help around the rink. Ellie soon became much more confident and could skate round the rink with her penguin on her own.

The session was soon over and with achy feet and some wet bottoms we made our way to the café for some hot chocolate and juice. As always the children were impeccably behaved and certainly helped to get Mrs Black and Mrs Appleby into the Christmas spirit by decorating Mrs Appleby's car on the way home!

  • British Values; Mutual Respect and Tolerance

    Tue 15 Dec 2015 K. Barnes
This half-term's focus British Values have been mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths.  After an introductory assembly, follow-up activities were undertaken in class with discussion covering an image promoting mutual respect and tolerance and the recent Paris attacks.  The children wrote messages explaining the importance of these key British Values which they then attached to balloons and released in order to spread the message.
  • Staff Promise: Cake at Annie's

    Tue 15 Dec 2015
Harry, Finlay, Daniel and Aston all enjoyed chocolate cake and lemon drizzle cake at Annie's tearoom at Kimbridge.  They entertained the staff by singing, "When Santa got Stuck up the Chimney"!
  • Christmas Around the World

    Mon 14 Dec 2015 A Jackson

  • Victorian Christmas

Fri 11 Dec 2015 Miss Banks
The children in Emperors today went to the Beaulieu National Motor Museum and spent the day in the Palace House. We had a fantastic time in the morning, learning about etiquette in Victorian times and listening to Christmas stories while drinking hot chocolate and eating biscuits. At lunch we had some warm tomato and carrot soup which was perfect for a cold winter's day and a delicious chocolate yule log. During the afternoon we gathered around the piano and sung some traditional Christmas carols, played some musical instruments and even enjoyed watching the teachers and mums dancing!! We had a wonderful day. Thank you to everyone that came with us and the children were beautifully behaved. Take a look at the photographs and videos on our class page.
