  • Staff promise ice skating fun

Fri 20 Dec 2013 Ruth Appleby

On wednesday, Bella, Millie, Roshne, Robyn, Henry and Mrs Lush went to winchester with Mrs Appleby for a bit of festive fun. Having rushed through our Christmas dinner we headed off to winchester for some ice skating.

After we had all managed to put our boots on we hit the ice! Robyn sped off with her penguin to help her stay upright, only falling over a couple of times on the first run round, the rest of us stayed close to the side for support!! Henry soon started to get into the groove and went off. Bella too was a bit of a natural, she soon headed for the middle to do laps with the pros. The rest of us needed the support for a little longer. Roshne did some impressive bottom skating whilst Millie and Henry attempted to crack through the ice with different parts of their bodies! Millie soon became more confident and joined Bella for a bit of free skating and the girls were soon skating circuits with the best of them!

The hour was soon up and we headed to the cafe for some very well deserved hot chocolate and cake!

We all had a fabulous time and enjoyed the Christmas setting in winchester surrounded by the Christmas market. Unfortunately we weren't allowed cameras on the ice, so you will just have to take our word for it that we had a truly magical Christmas time :)

  • Christmas Party

Fri 20 Dec 2013 Mr Dodson

A brilliant end to the term saw the children of Lockerley school perform marvellously in St.John's Church. Thank you everyone who came along.

Not long after this we finished with our Christmas Party Lunch. The children were extremely excited and enjoyed every second. Merry Christmas everyone. See you next year!

  • Peg Doll Staff Promise

    Thu 19 Dec 2013 Caroline
Today the winners of my staff promise made their Christmas Peg Doll Fairies. We had great fun and there were feathers everywhere. We carefully choose the colours for each fairy and we had to make sure we gave them wings, hair and a beautiful dress. Take a look at the photographs to see our finished results.
  • Christmas Lunch

Wed 18 Dec 2013 Mr Dodson

It was all hands on deck on Wednesday lunchtime as all the adults in school helped out to serve Christmas dinner. I took my position behind the counter and did a brilliant job serving out the potatoes. Unfortunately, I was let down at times by Mrs Black on peas (serving too many on a plate); Mrs Kirkham on parsnips (getting the plates out of sync); and Miss Hynes on delivery (too slow). Christmas music was playing, children were singing and everyone was full up in the end (especially Mr McCrae who went back for thirds). Thank you to Delrae, our school cook, for producing such a tasty Christmas feast.

  • Sharing Christmas

Wed 18 Dec 2013 Miss Banks

Thank you to everyone that braved the elements last night to attend Lockerley's first ever Sharing Christmas. Each classroom had children's work displayed and available to look at for all parents and children to see. This year's Sharing Christmas theme was 'Light' and each class had completed some work around that theme. Skippers had made some wonderful lanterns which had mini tea lights inside. Admirals had written diary extracts about the wise men's journey following the bright star. Swallowtails had created their own artwork surrounding the nativity and Emperors had written poetry and recounts about the birth of baby Jesus.

Towards the end of the evening we sampled some of Mrs Black's delicious mince pies followed by everyone joining in and singing carols and listening to Christmas readings by all of the teachers. The evening was definitely a success with lots of high praise in regards to the work the children have completed over the term. Thank you once again to everyone who attended. We look forward to next year's Sharing Christmas.

  • Poppies Staff Promise

Wed 18 Dec 2013 Miss Banks
The winners of the staff promise to Poppies had a great afternoon painting pottery.  Between us we painted two bowls, a milk jug, a horse and a Christmas decoration. The finished products looked great! Take a look at our photos.
  • Musical extravaganza

Tue 17 Dec 2013 Mr Dodson

It was a musical feast at Lockerley today. First of all the morning saw our expert keyboard players & guitarists showing off their talents playing a variety of well known Christmas classics.

Then in the afternoon Swallowtails performed with their African drums that they had been learning to use this half term. It was a great performance & if you were lucky enough to come along I know you enjoyed it as much as the children.

  • Maths Challenge

Tue 17 Dec 2013 Mr Dodson
Today was our very first maths challenge. Each house chose one child from each year group to answer 3 mathematical questions and the house that got the most questions right were crowned this year's champions. Every child in school was involved throughout the competition as there were team questions too. Questions ranged from adding & subtracting, to percentages, to even wrapping presents. Mrs Appleby & her maths club organised the challenge & did an absolutely fantastic job. Well done to Alyward, our first winners.
  • Staff Promises Trip to Carlo's!

    Tue 17 Dec 2013
The winners of the Carlo's staff promise had a good time enjoying pineapple, raspberry and vanilla sundaes.  They danced with Santa and sang Jingle Bell Rock!
  • Spectacular Nativity

Mon 16 Dec 2013 Jamie Dodson
At 10am today the children from year R and year 1 took to the stage to perform their nativity to the rest of the school and children from Acorns. The performance was filled with beautiful singing, fabulous acting and wonderful dancing. All the children were brilliant and the rest of the school even joined in with two of the songs. Well done to all involved and special thanks in particular to Miss  Jackson for putting in the many hours of rehearsals these last few weeks.
