  • Year 1,2,3 inter-house football

Thu 21 Jan 2016 Mrs Appleby

This morning the School Sport Organising Crew (SSOC) ran their first entire event. Having participated in the year 4,5,6 inter house football competition before Christmas the crew were very keen to open up this event to the rest of the school. We had hoped to do this in the same week as the traditional competition before Christmas but rain stopped play and we had to postpone.

The crew decided, having considered the requirements of the year groups, to change the event for the younger members of the school to encourage more children to participate and to promote sport for all. They designed 6 football skills activities that ALL the children in years 1,2 and 3 would rotate around.

This morning the crew set up their activities and designed a way to score to them so that all the participants would earn points for their house. The activities ranged from dribbling, to passing, to shooting, to throw ins.

I was incredibly proud of everyone that was involved in this mornings competition. The crew did an amazing job of running the entire event, encouraging the competitors and coaching them along the way. The competitors enthusiastically tackled all the activities and enjoyed participating in a competition designed specifically for them.

A quote from the day from an originally very reluctant footballer in year 1 sums up the purpose and outcome of what the crew were trying to achieve today 'It was the best football I have ever done'.

Well done to the crew and what will become an annual event and to all budding footballers in years 1,2 and 3.

  • Newspaper Club

Thu 21 Jan 2016 Miss Banks
Yesterday, Alfie, Arthur and Harriet went to Stockbridge school to take part in a new cluster newspaper club. We had a great time at Stockbridge meeting children from different schools in the area and making new friends. The children were assigned a project to work on for the newspaper and have some work to complete before our next meeting on February 3rd. We look forward to seeing the finished product which will go out to all of the cluster schools in the near future.
  • Emperors' Dance Day

Thu 21 Jan 2016 Miss Banks

On Tuesday, Emperors performed two fantastic dance routines to 'Jailhouse Rock' and 'Nicest Kids in Town' from Hairspray. We had a great two days learning the routines and working on our Elvis inspired dance moves thanks to Mr Dodson's demonstrations. Thank you to everyone who came to watch.

  • Murphy's Visit

    Mon 18 Jan 2016 Murphy
    Hi there,

So today I was on the mat with the Admirals again, and I heard all about The Rainbow Machine.  In fact, I heard it twice because two different children read it to me!  I always wondered who made rainbows, and now I know!  There are seven people in a big truck, and one of them is called Fred.  He's training to be a rainbow maker, and there were some funny rainbows to start with - one had straight sides!

Then I listened to The Secret Whirlpool where Breni calmed the whirlpool down just by singing to it.  I tried that at the seaside once when the waves were huge and not calm at all, but they didn't listen to me!

Finally I heard about more adventures with Nok and his micro-friends on Planet Exis, and then before I know it, reading time was over and it was time for me to go!  See you next time!

  • Murphy's Visit

    Thu 07 Jan 2016 Murphy
    Hi there

Happy new year everyone!  It was so good to be back at school today!  I went into the Admirals class, and I was the first there -  I really loved the new rug - it even had a d for dog on it!  Licky lick!

To start off, I listened to Fire, Fire where Dolly the cow needed to curtsy and thieves stole John's purse, then I heard The Cave of Life where the red gubloon took the friends to see Kree-Ator, who is the living soul of Planet Kree-Mar.

Then Ilistened to The Mines of Moxor where the friends had to first find their friend, Seven, and find the fragment of Exis, but Nok was trapped in a box and a Moxorian put him into a cart! Hope he managed to escape!

See you next time. Keep reading!

    Love Murphy
